Do You See What I See

----------
UPDATE --  I do indeed have to get glasses.  Had my eyes dilated during the exam and couldn't see a thing as I was trying on the frames.  I trusted my daughter and the employees to make the decision for me.  Sure hope I like them.  Next time I make an appointment for the eye Dr. could you please remind me not to go at the same time as my husband and daughter.  Oh and maybe next time I shouldn't do it right before Christmas and my daughter's birthday either.  With all 3 of us getting glasses it will be costing a good chunk of change even after the insurance pays. I'm so thankful for insurance, but I definitely should have spaced out our appointments a bit.
----------
My eyes have been having a little trouble lately...

Things are just a bit blurry.  I've found myself moving the words back and forth, farther then closer, in hopes of helping my eyes adjust.  It is taking longer than usual for my eyes to focus.

And I am getting old, I'll be 40 next summer.

Today I will be going to the Eye Dr. along with my husband and daughter.

I'm wondering if eyeglasses are in store for me?

I want to know...

Do you wear glasses? contacts?  How old were you when you started wearing them?

Tell me, tell me.  I want to know.

used to need glasses... I got them in fifth grade but I was too vain to wear them until it was absolutley necessary (around 7th grade). then switched to contacts in HS... then back to glasses post college... then had LASIK the first chance I got.

I'm spoiled by good vision now... but 40 is right around the corner for me too!

I wear reading glasses. Can't read a thing without them now or see the computer screen or the piano music, anything up close. In the beginning probably around 40 or so I just wore them to make it easier to read, now I have no choice at 52.

I'm beginning to notice the distance stuff is getting harder to get in focus now too. Definitely need to get an eye exam.

I started wearing glasses in college, just for reading, because I got these headaches at night. Now I wear glasses at my computer, which I work at all day. But if I leave my desk I take them off. They still feel funny. I turned 40 yast year, I still have basically 20/20 vision, but the menus and signs are getting a little harder to read.

When I was in 3rd grade I wanted glasses soooooooo bad...that I cheated on my eye exam. No lie.
So, then I GOT glasses and big shocker, all of the sudden, I actually began to need them!
I got contacts in 8th grade and wore them intermitently until I couldn't stand it anymore and now wear them every day. Glasses only on occassion. don't tell my friend/eye doctor.

I started wearing glasses at 8 and contacts at 13. They both suck. lol. If your prescription is really mild, which I'm sure it will be, I'd probably just go with glasses because you can still swim and do sports or whatever without them. I can't even read my alarm clock without my glasses so contacts are a must for certain activities.

Jamie, I used to work for an optomitrist long ago and reading glasses went with turning 40 almost to the birthday. God's crazy way of keeping us humble, as if He needed another way.

I wear my contacts, I HATE GLASSES! I am totally blind without them...hee hee. I probably needed them in middle school but I got my first set of glasses in high school. They were soooooo ugly. They were HUGE round glasses. I felt like an owl. I would only wear them in high school to drive and to see the board. I wish I could get eye surgery someday, that would be awesome.

Hmmm... I don't need glasses. I just need longer arms! Did you know that the library has several titles in LARGE PRINT? :-)

Jamie, You'll be adorable in glasses.

Lovingly,

Your older friend who has no unique talents or hobbies. :-)

Have had glasses since third grade and contacts since I was a freshman in high school. Just got a new pair of glasses and they are driving me crazy! If only Lasiks surgery wasn't so darn expensive!
Good luck with the glasses. Oh...and 40? Really? Not so old...not even close. Just ask me in January after I celebrate 44. Everyone keeps telling me 40 is the new 20. Not sure about that...maybe the new 30!
Peace.

Hi Jamie!

I found your blog through Genny's MckLinky! You're such a talented writer. I'll be adding you to my blog list.

As for glasses, I've been wearing corrective lenses since 5th grade and have had my eyes examined every year since then. So I know what you're going through!

I hope your glasses look good also! :)

Blessings,
Michelle

No glasses for me...yet. But my husband says 40 is when the eyesight really goes downhill, so that means a mere few months left for me!

Good luck with the glasses -- I think they make a great accessory actually.

I do have glasses, but I sure don't wear them as much as I should. I got them just a few years ago.

It is kind of fun to pick out ones you love though! I'm sure you'll look great in them.

Hey Jamie,
I can so relate...I too just went to the optomotrist. Turns out my reading vision (up close) is one of the few things this 40 year old body has that functions correctly...PTL. I am celebrating that one! However, my night vision with a stigmatism is lacking...so I picked out a cool pair of glasses with the help of the hip glasses gal. Anyway...I figure I'll make Esther feel better:O)
